Pastor Matt Norlen
Pastor Matt is a native of Omaha, NE, where he grew up in the First Covenant Church. He studied at Northwest Missouri State earning his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & a Minor in Fine Arts. He went on to attend Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Kansas City, from which he earned a Master of Divinity degree. Pastor Matt was ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2007.
Pastor Matt has been in the pastoral ministry since 2000. He served as a lead Pastor in Rhode Island, Michigan and Nebraska.
Pastor Matt and his wife Immy have been married since 2001. Immy is originally from India, and currently works as nurse in Lincoln. She loves having people over to their house, and visiting. Together they have three children, Ethan (11), Sam (8) and Thomas (5). Pastor Matt absolutely loves hanging out with his boys! He is also a true outdoorsman and enjoys nature, hikes, working on the yard, and camping as a family —This may not be Immy’s favorite family activity but she will lovingly tolerate it.
In his spare time he enjoys reading westerns and traveling. Pastor Matt is specially keen on traveling over seas as he finds other cultures fascinating.
Our Worship Service includes music and a biblical message from our Pastor or an occasional guest speaker to prepare you for life and ministry through the rest of the week. Services normally last one hour. Communion is served by the Pastor and congregation members at the front of the church on the first Sunday of each month. All believers in Jesus are welcome to participate in the Sacrament of Communion.
Worship services have contemporary and praise music with traditional hymns mixed in. Special music is performed by various groups and soloists. If you are interested in sharing your musical gifts by helping lead worship through music, let us know!
A nursery area is offered during services for children infant to 4 years old. The nursery is staffed by two congregation members and is located in the West Fellowship room.
People are dressed in everything from traditional church clothing (dress shirt, tie, dresses, heels, etc.) to jeans, t-shirts and sandals. We welcome everyone no matter what your attire is.
Each Sunday after worship we enjoy time together with a fresh, hot cup of coffee and special treats in the East Fellowship room.
Williams Hearing Devices are available to those who request them.
Life-long learning doesn't just happen at Sunday Worship. Bible study and connecting with each other is part of the whole-person learning Jesus sought. Our goal is to move from knowledge to informed practice through the transforming work of the Spirit, so that the Bible comes alive among us. We provide the following opportunities to study the Bible and connect with each other:
- Sunday Morning Adult Christian Formation Class
- Sunday Morning Children and Youth Christian Formation
- Weeknight Connect Groups (Small Group Studies)
